Bin days in Largs
Which colour goes out this week — the same answer for the whole town.
This week
Your collection day depends on your street — somewhere between Monday and Friday. The colour does not: every household in Largs puts out the same bin in the same week.
The next three weeks
- Blue week of 17 August
- Purple week of 24 August
- Grey week of 31 August
The brown bin
Brown is the exception, and it is worth reading once. It runs fortnightly on its own round, with its own day of the week — a street collected on a Monday might have its brown bin on the Wednesday, and a Friday street might have it on the Tuesday. Largs is split into two halves that alternate, so your brown week is not the same as your neighbour's on the next road over.
Check your address once on the council's checker, note which week you are in, and it stays the same from then on.

- Grey General household waste
- Blue Paper, card and cardboard
- Purple Plastics, cans and cartons
- Brown Food and garden waste · fortnightly, separate round
Bins should be out at the kerbside by 7am on your collection day. The council's pages have the detail on what belongs in each bin, missed collections, caddies and bulky uplifts.
Bins, litter and recycling at North Ayrshire Council →How this page works
The colour rotation was checked against eight addresses across Largs — one on every collection weekday, from Routenburn Road to Bowen Craig — and all eight matched. This page then counts the weeks forward from that verified week. It is not a live feed from the council, so around Christmas and New Year, when collections move by several days, treat the council's own page as the answer. Last checked Sunday 9 August 2026.
